Welcome to our Ryze Tech Tello review! A big name is behind this cute and fun little drone. The Ryze Tech Tello, one of the most awaited drones back in 2018, is the result of a partnership between the renowned and famous drone company DJI, the BMW in the drone world and the promising tech startup Ryze Technology. This has all resulted in a perfect combination of powerful features, amazing design, and an incredible price.
Compact design
One of the most amazing features of the Ryze Tech Tello is it’s compact desing and light weight. This little drone can fit in the palm of your hand, measuring just 3.86 x 3.64 x 1.61 inches (9.80 x 9.25 x 4.10 cm) and, including battery and propellers is weighing only 80 grams!
To enhance even more its lightweight and tiny frame, the Ryze Tech Tello quadcopter doesn’t use any landing gear, instead having a longer bottom on its arms. Thus, ensuring the quad’s safety when landing while at the same time reducing weight and size.

Camera
Despite it’s amazingly low-price tag, the manufacturers of the (DJI) Ryze Tech Tello still managed to incorporate a high-quality image processor and awesome camera features.
The built-in camera has 5 megapixels (2592×1936) and a Field of View of 82.6º. It captures HD 720p video at 30 frames per second and it features Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) which minimizes blurring and compensates image when filming or photographing under a slight turbulence.
To help you get the perfect shot, Tello’s 5MP camera features EZ Shots that include Circle, 360 and Up & Away camera modes. On top of all this, the quadcopter can also transmit Live Video via WiFi directly to the user’s smartphone screen and is compatible with VR headsets. Some amazing and powerful features for such a low-price drone don’t you think?
Features
The most important part of our Ryze Tech Tello review.
One of the great things about the Ryze Tech Tello drone is the astonishing amount of powerful and useful features it has to offer. This off course only made possible because of it’s powerful Intel processor. The list consists of the following features:
- Auto takeoff and landing: the DJI Ryze Tello RC drone can easily take off or land with a single button.
- Vision positioning system: this system can facilitate accurate hovering.
- Throw & go: just tossing it into the air and it will flight.
- 8D flips: easy to perform cool aerial stunts via sliding on the smartphone screen.
- Bounce mode: you can enjoy the interesting interaction with flying the drone up and down.
- Low battery protection: it will give you an alert reminder when the battery power is low.
- Failsafe protection: the drone will land automatically even if it loses connection.
- Barometer: the built-in barometer measures automatically the altitude of flying based on the surrounding barometric pressure.
Another great feature of the Ryze Tech Tello drone is it’s educational value and suitability for kids. Kids, and adults too, can program the drone with Scratch, an MIT-developed block-based coding system ideal for kids and adults. It allows for programable flight patterns, flips and much more. Advanced pilots can also program Tello through more sophisticated SDK software development, as well as creating customized Tello accessories such as DIY air frames.

Endurance
Another important aspect of our Ryze Tech Tello review. Nobody wants to just fly for a short moment then come to the discovery the battery is almost empty.
The Ryze Tech Tello drone presents some astonishing specifications. Powered by a 3.8V 1100mAh battery, this quadcopter has a maximum flight time of 13 minutes. It’s maximum control range is also impressive, it can fly as far away as 100 meters at a max speed of 8m/s. These are above average specifications when comparing this drone to similar ones from the same price range.

Conclusion
Conlusion of our Ryze Tech Tello review: this drone is a game changer. It is the number one quadcopter around the $100 price tag. It has many great features, good flight time for it’s battery pack and a great camera. But do keep in mind this drone is mainly an indoor flyer, only fly it outside if there isn’t much wind. Due to the small size and light weight of the drone it’s hard to control under windy conditions. I would say only use it outside when it’s not windier then 1-2 on the scale of Beaufort.
All in all it’s a great little drone for an amazing price! We made it part of our list: Drones for Sale on Amazon – What to Buy in 2022
